Outlook 2012: A year of growth and more opportunities to continue impressing customers
by Scott Tautenhahn, President
As we finish out the first month of the New Year, I finally
feel like 2011 has come to an end. The holidays, family trips, countless budget
meetings, and tax preparation all culminated together into what was a very
hectic but fruitful last 30 days. Thankfully, I embrace this challenging time
of year, it allows me to really focus and gain a fresh prospective on the New
Year. Like many, every January I take the time to reflect on what we’ve
accomplished in the past year, and I outline personal and company goals for the
New Year.
Twenty-twelve will be an exciting time for Amazing Spaces. Last
year we broke ground and began construction on our newest location in the Medical Center. With the addition of the Medical Center location, we will
essentially double in size: in square footage and in hiring 4 new employees.
For months my team and I have been preparing for our opening in March. Though
it’s a new market and demographic for Amazing Spaces, we’ve thoroughly studied
the area and have already begun to connect with the community, which is our
upmost priority.
Often times when companies grow, confusion can develop as
information travels from headquarters to sales teams and vice versa. We are circumventing any possibilities of our
customer service suffering during this time of expansion by bringing in sales
and communication experts for intensive, onsite customer service training
sessions. From corporate employees to property managers to leasing associates,
everyone will go through training that will enhance what our veteran employees
currently practice and will educate the newest additions to the Amazing Spaces
team on our process.
Our 2012 goal is to not only meet our customers’ high
expectations but to continue exceeding them. Since we opened our doors in 1998,
we’ve set the bar high for our company and have ended up defining what it means
to provide quality storage. I thank our employees for growing with us and for
always stepping up and delivering on everything we’ve asked of them. I also
thank the communities we serve; the positive feedback we receive encourages and
reinforces the efforts we make every day to continue providing the best storage
experience available. We can’t control what necessarily happens in the economy
or in the political environment; therefore; we concentrate on what we can
control. For us at Amazing Spaces, we can control how we are perceived in our
communities by our goodwill programs and by giving our neighbors a storage experience
unparalleled to anything else in our industry.
Toys for Tots: Christmas 2011
How our customers help the community
by Joe
As a local business, we feel it is our duty to give back to the community. Since the holiday season is upon us, there is no better opportunity to do just that. I feel proud and humbled to be a part of the Toys for Tots campaign.
Every year the United States Marine Corps Reserves collect new and unwrapped toys to give to needy children all across the community. This program "delivers, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens."
As the Manager of the Amazing Spaces Spring/Champions property, I can definitely see the community stepping up and donating what they can for this program. A lot of customers will see the “Toys for Tots” posters go up in our location and whole-heartedly bring in a toy the next time they stop by. Every little bit helps. Our customers have such big hearts that many of them will bring in multiple toys. One of our regular customers, who always donates a few toys each year, told us that whenever she’s out shopping, she picks up a toy to add to her regular shopping list. It’s as simple as that. Each toy goes to a needy child who otherwise would probably not be receiving anything for the holidays.

Thanksgiving 2011
The Amazing Spaces family wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving!
Here are a few easy and yummy recipes you might enjoy (courtesy of foodnetwork.com):
Main Dish: World's Simplest Turkey
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Pull the neck and giblets out of the cavity; ditch the liver and save the rest of the giblets for gravy. Dry the turkey with paper towels, then season inside and out with salt and pepper. Fill the turkey with aromatics like chopped onions, carrots, apples and herbs, then place breast-side up in a roasting pan and brush with melted butter. Tent with foil and roast for 2 hours (for a 10- to 12-pound turkey; add an extra 15 minutes per pound for larger birds). Remove the foil, baste with more melted butter and crank the oven to 425 degrees F. Roast for another hour or until the meat at the thigh registers 165 degrees F. Let rest while you make the gravy.
Side Dish: Sauteed Carrots
Ingredients
- 2 pounds carrots
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill or flat-leaf parsley

Pre-Holiday Organization Challenge!
When in doubt, rent a storage unit!
by Amazing Spaces
If you’re like me, every year around the holidays (before things get crazy) you feel a renewed motivation to get your home organized so that you can actually enjoy the parties, the out-of-towners, the gift giving, and the general merriment of the season. Let’s use that motivation and join the Amazing Spaces’ Pre-Holiday Organization Challenge!
~ Pre-Holiday Organization Challenge ~
This year Amazing Spaces Storage Centers is challenging its staff, friends, and customers to get organized before the holidays. We’ll post before and after pictures of our progress, and WE HOPE YOU DO TOO! Cleaning and organizing can be daunting but going through it together will provide much needed encouragement! Follow us on Facebook for weekly challenge reminders, before and after photos, and encouragement!
Day #15: Wild Card - You Pick!
Congratulations! After Day #15, you're done! You're home should be organized and ready for the holidays! If you still have odds and ends that don't have a designated place in your home, look to storage. Renting a climate controlled unit during this time of the year can be a life saver especially with our current "Reclaim Your Space" holiday special and with our month-to-month contracts.
Day #14: Fridge /
Freezer
In our final days of the Pre-Holiday Organizational
challenge, we thought it best to tackle the fridge and freezer last so you can
make room for holiday treats and feasts. Why let good food go to waste? Just
whip up your favorite “clean out the fridge” casserole or soup this week to
utilize what you have and to make room in the fridge.
Day #13: Game Room
With family coming to town, this room is sure to get a lot
of use. Maybe spend some extra time making sure all of the pieces are there to
your family’s favorite game. This is also a great chance to get rid of broken
or outgrown toys so that there’s room for any new toys that Santa might bring.
Day #12: The Pantry
If the holidays are the only time of year you bake, you should
consider replacing your baking powder and baking soda from last year – they
lose potency over time. Check out more food expiration date guidelines here.
